An envelope of forty-five million five hundred thousand Rwandan francs (RWF 45,500,000 or approximately $ 45,500) is needed to support the education of 15% of the children in need of help during the 2021-2022 school year.
Among them, 70 are from primary school. They need 21,000,000 (21,000 USD) per school year 2021-2022. And 35 are from secondary school with an envelope of 24,500,000 Rwf (24,500 USD) to cover the entire school year.
A donation is never small. Even $ 10, $ 20, $ 50 is of utmost importance. A donor can also support a group of 3, 5, 10, .. 20..from primary or secondary. The start of the school year is set for October 14, 2021, in one month. It would be best if our children, refugees, could start this school year well. The fundraising is therefore launched.

Why ?
The humanitarian needs assessment shows that, for the Burundian exiles in Rwanda, the education sector experiences a multifaceted problem such as the lack of school fees and materials, trauma of the past, integration into the host community, a very expensive educational environment etc.
The situation in the education sector from kindergarten to university remains worrying. In the beginning of the 2020 school year, the assessment made by the representatives of refugees in Rwanda identified one thousand three hundred and seventy-one (1,371) refugee pupils and students in need of academic school support (Source: Refugee representatives).
In collaboration with its partners among them the Burundian Community of Texas (BCT) and Flaming Chalice International (FCI), the FMV has supported fifty Burundian refugee children (in primary and secondary school) from the neediest refugee families. It is important to note that the support of the FMV in education only corresponds to 7.15%. FMV is seeking to extend its assistance to at least 15% for the next coming school 2021-2022.

In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic,which is shaking the world in general did no spare Rwanda and is worsening the living conditions of refugees thus making school support more than an emergency. Henceforth, the FMV and its partners are launching a vibrant appeal to donors, charitable institutions and any legal organization or any individual sensitive to the education of children to come to the aid of these school children in need of an emergent educational help.
