From June 8 to 11, 2026, the Forum pour la Mémoire Vigilante (FMV) participated in the Open Day of development partners in Muhanga District, organized within the framework of the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) Muhanga. This event brought together public institutions, non-governmental organizations, private companies, cooperatives, and faith-based organizations engaged in promoting local development.
The event provided a privileged platform for exchange, experience sharing, and the presentation of achievements by various stakeholders working in the development of Muhanga District. It also offered partners an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and showcase their respective contributions to improving community livelihoods.
A Visibility Platform for FMV
Through its participation, the Forum pour la Mémoire Vigilante presented its key initiatives in the fields of memory, human rights, peace education, and community development. The organization also took advantage of this opportunity to enhance its visibility among local authorities, technical and financial partners, and community members.
FMV highlighted its integrated approach combining awareness-raising, community-based actions, and the promotion of sustainable solutions for local populations.
SURAM Ltd: A Multi-Sectoral Company Driving Development
One of the key highlights of FMV’s participation this year was the presentation of SURAM Ltd, a legally registered Rwandan company created by FMV as its operational arm in the field of economic development and professional services.
SURAM Ltd is positioned as a multi-sectoral integrated services platform, operating notably in engineering and technical consulting, innovative solution development, training, commercial brokerage and intermediation, tourism, and social innovation.
Through this vision, SURAM Ltd aims to transform ideas into concrete solutions serving communities and economic actors.
Promotion of Clean Cooking Solutions
During the Open Day, SURAM Ltd presented its clean cooking solutions, including the Intatwa I Stove, Intatwa II Stove, Clean Stove, and Terimbere Stove models.
These technologies contribute to reducing firewood and charcoal consumption, protecting the environment, improving household health, and supporting national efforts toward a sustainable energy transition.
Technical Credibility and Strategic Partnerships
It is worth noting that four improved cookstove models developed by SURAM Ltd have already been submitted for quality testing by the Rwanda Standards Board (RSB). The results of three of them have been officially communicated, confirming their performance, efficiency, and compliance with quality standards.
In addition, SURAM Ltd is engaged in the development of strategic partnerships with institutions such as the Energy Development Corporation Limited (EDCL), as well as other technical and commercial actors, in order to strengthen production, distribution, and the scaling-up of its solutions.
Highlighting Local Economic Initiatives
FMV also showcased local economic initiatives presented during the exhibition, including locally produced mushrooms. These initiatives illustrate the potential for income generation and the development of local value chains, thereby contributing to the economic empowerment of communities.
A Space for Dialogue and Collaboration
Throughout the event, exchanges with visitors, partners, and other development stakeholders helped strengthen understanding of the work carried out by FMV and SURAM Ltd, while opening new opportunities for collaboration.
The Open Day thus served as an important platform for dialogue, visibility, and partnership around sustainable development issues in Muhanga District.
